What are PDO Threads?
polydioxanone (PDO) is a safe raw material that has been used for orthopedic and cardiovascular surgery for wound closure. How do they work?
PDO threads are inserted with local anesthesia, usually lidocaine, which is injected superficially into the tissue. The threads have tiny barbs facing different directions allowing them to grab onto the underlying tissue below the skin surface. The patient is typically marked prior to insertion where the greatest lift can be achieved. This will help to guide placement of the barbed threads.
